Unimation Inc. led by J. F. Engelberger put the first industrial robot into practical use in the world. In 1968 Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. had technical association with Unimation Inc. after evaluating the robot as a creative and promising machine and in May, 1969 the first Kawasaki Unimate 2000, the first industrial robot in Japan, was born.
This article introduces the first stage of industrial robots in robot design, acquisition of production technology, production and actual application of robots along with commemorative photos.
