In recent years, demands to assemble smaller parts precisely is incleasing, due to miniaturization of the production and its parts. In the manufacturing field, we generally integrate small-size serial link robots to assemble small parts. However, the robots cannot handle smaller objects than 1mm sized ones. In addition, we should realize enough small operating range robot. We developed the 4-DOF small-size, high-speed and high-precision robot (RP series), which has closed-loop mechanism and is different mechanism from standard FA robot's one. The robot realizes to enhanse the application field where it is hard to integrate robot previously. 5th RSJ Technical Innovations Award in 2000.
